Auction Bidding by Email
Place bids on Yahoo! Auctions Japan simply by sending an email.
No special software or login required — just your regular email.
How It Works
Send an email to the dedicated address provided to you, and our system will automatically register your bids and place them at the right time.
- The email subject tells the system what action to take.
- The email body contains the auction details (MaxPrice, timing, URL).
- You will receive a confirmation reply for every request.
Registration required: Only pre-registered email addresses can use this service. If you would like to start using email bidding, please contact us at
order@cathandsagent.com.
If you don't receive a reply, the system may be temporarily down. Please contact order@cathandsagent.com for assistance.
1. Placing a Bid — order
To register a new bid, send an email with the subject line order.
In the email body, write one auction per line in this format:
MaxPrice,Bidding Time,Auction URL
- MaxPrice — The maximum amount you are willing to pay (in JPY).
- Bidding Time — When the system should place your bid (not the auction end time). You can also leave this blank to let the system decide automatically (see "Smart Timing" below).
- Auction URL — The full web address of the auction page.
Spaces around commas are fine — the system handles them automatically.
If you send an order for the same auction URL again, the previous entry will be updated with the new price and time.
You can include multiple auctions in a single email — just put each one on its own line.
Full Example
Subject: order
Body:
5500,2026-02-11-22-00,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample1111
4100,30,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample2222
9100,0,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample3333
330,,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample4444
This single email registers three separate auction bids at once.
2. Smart Timing — Automatic Bid Scheduling
You don't have to calculate the exact bid time yourself. The system offers convenient shortcuts:
Option A: Leave it blank (default = 6 minutes before end)
Simply leave the time field empty (two commas in a row), and the system will automatically bid 6 minutes before the auction ends.
4100,,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample5555
Option B: Bid immediately
Enter 0(ZERO) to place the bid right away, without waiting.
4100,0,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample6666
Option C: Specify minutes before end
Enter a number to tell the system how many minutes before the auction ends to place the bid. For example, 30 means "bid 30 minutes before the end."
4100,30,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample7777
Option D: Specify an exact date and time
If you need precise control, provide the full date and time in this format:
YYYY-MM-DD-HH-mm
4100,2026-02-11-04-39,https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample8888
Example: 2026-02-11-04-39
(February 11, 2026, at 4:39 AM)
Important: Always use two digits for each part.
Correct: 2026-02-11-04-39
Wrong: 2026-2-11-4-39
3. Removing a Bid — remove
Changed your mind? Send an email with the subject line remove.
In the body, simply paste the auction URL(s) you want to cancel — one per line. No price or time needed.
Example
Subject: remove
Body:
https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/sample9999
4. Checking Your List — list
Want to see all the auctions you've registered? Send an email with the subject line list.
The body can be left completely empty. The system will reply with a full list of your active bids.
Example
Subject: list
Body: (empty)
5. Notifications
The system will automatically send you email notifications for important events:
- Highest Bidder Alert — You'll be notified when you become the highest bidder on an auction.
- Winning Notification — You'll be notified when you've successfully won an auction.
